Welcome to

Macquarie Creek Reserve,

in the City of Campbelltown

Straddling either side of the newly named Macquarie Creek this Reserve is between Glenquarie Shopping Centre and James Meehan High School. Entry is via Harold Street or Brooks Street. It has been identified by the National Parks and Wildlife Service as Shale/Sandstone Transition Forest with a high sandstone influence. This is an endangered ecological community.

However, this area is visually polluted by a range of unsightly rubbish and weed species. There are moves to have this area included in the next Clean Up Australia Day in August 2000, but Campbelltown City Council must agree to it being a site first. Local Visual Arts students from the University of Western Sydney (Milperra Campus) have already taken photographs of the area to produce a poster to encourage residents to become involved.

wouldn't it be exciting to have this beautiful area cleaned up and the bushland restored to its former glory?

Postscript - The reserve was a site for Clean Up Australia Day in August 2000.
